It all started with a want for hunting homewares that didnt just feature yet another white-tailed deer or moose- but something we actually chased here in Aotearoa. Amongst gumboots by the door, washing on the line, and the hum of rural life, Little Fallow was born.
Like many good ideas, it began around the kitchen table. We had already worked together on some projects for NZ Women Hunters. I (Sally) had a head full of ideas and something of an artistic talent. Stacey had the knowledge to organize and source products. Together we wanted something grounded in country living, inspired by our lifestyles farming /hunting and practical for busy mums like us.
We wanted pieces that felt like home-useful, beautiful, and a little bit different. So I picked up my pencil and started sketching. What followed was a whole lot of learning, many late nights, and more than a couple of moments wondering what I’d gotten myself into!
From those early drawings to our very first swaddles and tea towels, every step of the journey has been hands-on. We test everything, tweak things, and make sure it not only looks good but holds up to real life on the farm or in a busy home. Whether it’s a baby wrap that gets used a hundred times over, or a tea towel that hangs proudly on the oven door -we’re here for it.
Little Fallow has grown slowly and steadily, like a good garden. We’re proud to still be a small business, run with heart and honesty, right here in New Zealand.
Our community means everything to us - especially you rural women who are doing it all with a bit of dirt under your nails and love in your bones. Thanks for being here. This little dream wouldn’t be what it is without you.
